Business plan, go-to-market and customer acquisition · working draft, 16 October 2026

How Nino makes money, how it reaches people and what the numbers say. Facts carry a source number [1]. Everything else is an assumption to test, and is marked as one.

1The short version

Capture the value at the moment of pride.

People buy when their app first goes online, not three months later. So Nino is free to use, and the paid thing is the name: a web address of their own, paid once.

What Nino is for

Apps you make yourself, for the people you know.

A family calendar, a quiz for the kids, a holiday planner for friends, a score board for the Sunday football. Nino is your own little home for them. Businesses can use it too, but they are not who we build for.

Not for: apps that need to scale, apps you sell to others, or hosting software you didn't make.

45%

of new .com addresses are renewed after year one. After that, about 85% are. [3] Interest fades fast, so we take two years up front.

€29.85

left from each €59 web address, after VAT, two years of the address and card fees. [1][2][6]

~1,000

web addresses a month pay for a €30,000 monthly cost base. This is the number that decides everything.

2What people buy

One free Nino. A few things worth paying for.

No plans and no monthly fee. Every paid item is something people can point at: their name, a gift, a box.

Nino is ad-free. No ads in anyone's apps, and no data sold or used for advertising. People pay for Nino, so Nino works for them. The only promotion is our own small "Made with Nino" badge.

Your Nino
Free
Every app online, with links like calendar-martins.nino.app, who-can-open-it, copies kept safe. No ads, ever. A small "Made with Nino" badge sits in the corner of public apps.
Apps nobody visits for 60 days go to sleep and wake on the next visit. This keeps the free Nino cheap to run. [7]
Your web address
€59 · 2 years
One name for all your apps. Buy martins.be once, and every app gets its own address under it: calendar.martins.be, math.martins.be, pocket-money.martins.be. As many apps as you like, at no extra cost. Email to [email protected] arrives in the inbox you already use. The badge disappears.
Paid once. Two years because most people don't renew after year one [3][5], and German law caps first terms at two years [13].
Keep it
€24 a year
After two years, we remind you twice. You choose to keep it. It never renews in silence.
Calm and honest, as the brand asks. Germany only allows renewals that can be cancelled monthly, so opt-in is simpler too. [13]
Gift a Nino
€59
A card for Christmas or a birthday. The person gets a web address for two years. "Make your first app, it's on me."
Gift vouchers are the most common Christmas gift in Deloitte's 2025 Austrian survey (30%). [16]
Give a year, get a year
Referral
Every Nino has a code. A friend who buys with it gets a third year. You get a year added to yours.
Paid in web-address years, which cost us about €8.89 each. No cash leaves the company.
The box
€199 · estimate
Bring your Nino home. Same apps, same links. Every tap is a pre-order, built in batches.
About €39 left per box with a rebranded mini PC. Memory prices may still move this. [20]

The deck's "Nino+ at €39 a year" is folded into the web address. One thing to buy instead of a plan follows the brand rule "not a menu of plans".

3Money per sale

Where the €59 goes.

One name covers every app under it. Each extra app costs us nothing more for the name: the addresses under it are free to create.

The address itself costs us real money every year. That is why €39 doesn't work and €59 does.

If the sale happens inside an iPhone app, Apple takes 15% through in-app purchase or 10% through a link out, for small developers in the EU from 1 October 2026. [12] So people buy on the web, and the app links out.

4Market and competition

Millions make apps. Few can share them properly.

800M+

ChatGPT users, as quoted at the launch of its app directory in December 2025. [10]

60M+

projects built on Lovable alone by August 2026, from about 8 million users. Its paid plans start at $25 a month. [11]

79%

of EU enterprises with 10 or more people already had a website in 2025. Businesses are well served. Families and friends making their own apps are not, and that is where Nino starts. [19]

Who else puts an app online

Claude
Publishes artifacts as public links on the Free, Pro and Max plans. Viewers need no account. No custom domain is mentioned. [9] This is the main threat: the link is already free. Nino has to win on the name, ownership and home, not the link.
ChatGPT apps
Third-party apps can be submitted since 17 December 2025. Apps may not sell digital goods inside ChatGPT for now, only link out for physical goods. [10] "Send to Nino" can live there. The purchase happens on nino's site.
Lovable and similar builders
Strong for building, with monthly plans from $25. [11] People who build there already have hosting. Our users build in the chat they already use.
Domain sellers
Sell names, not apps. They leave the hard part, connecting the app, to the customer. Nino does that part and sells the name as the reward.

We found no reliable data on how long people keep using apps they make with AI. The only hard number is for domains: AI-built websites renew 20% more often than average. [3] We treat fast decay as likely, and price for it.

5Three-year numbers

It works if 7 in 100 buy a name.

Three scenarios from January 2027 to December 2029, Belgium and France first, Germany and the Netherlands from year 2. The difference between them is mostly one number: the share of new Ninos that buy a web address.

For reference: consumer apps that sell subscriptions convert 1.7% of free users on average, and ChatGPT about 2%. Planning for 10% or more is considered too optimistic. [18] A one-time name, bought at the moment of pride, should do better than a subscription. Whether it reaches 7% is the first thing to test.

Team costs are assumptions: about €150–220k in year 1 for two to three people, rising with the plan. Christmas lifts sign-ups by 40% in November and 80% in December, and gift sales triple. The model, with every input marked as a source or an assumption, is here as a Python file.

6Go-to-market

Start with a gift. Then the chat.

Each step tests one thing before money goes into the next.

Nov–Dec 2026

Gift pre-sale

Sell "Gift a Nino" cards in Belgium and France for Christmas, usable from launch. It tests the price and the name idea with real money before the product is public. Shoppers buy in November (31%) and early December (30%). [16]

Goal: 500 cards

Jan–Mar 2027

Online launch

Ninos go online in French, Dutch and English. "Send to Nino" is submitted to the ChatGPT app directory and offered for Claude. Gift cards are redeemed. Price tests: €39, €59, €79.

Goal: 2,000 new Ninos a month, 4% buy a name

Apr–Jun 2027

First boxes

The first batch ships, sized by "Bring it home" pre-orders. Families are the focus: one family name, every app under it, and a box that lives with them.

Goal: referrals bring 20% of sales

Sep–Dec 2027

Back to school, then Christmas

Teachers in September. Germany and the Netherlands. A full Christmas gift campaign, with the gift card and the box together.

Goal: 1,000 names a month by December

Who we talk to first

Families
Calendars, pocket money, homework quizzes, all under one family name like martins.be. Parents make them; grandparents, kids and cousins use them. They buy as a gift, and every shared link reaches relatives.
Friends
A holiday planner, a wedding page, the five-a-side score board, a book club. One person makes it, the whole group opens it, and some of them make their own next.
Also welcome
Teachers with a class page, or a plumber with a booking page. It works for them, but we don't design for them or market to them first.

7Customer acquisition

Every shared app shows where it was made.

With about €30 left per sale, Nino can't buy customers. It has to be found where apps are made, and passed on by the people who use them.

In the chat
"Send to Nino" in the ChatGPT app directory and for Claude. People find it at the exact moment they want to share an app.
Free to list. Submissions open since December 2025. [10] Depends on approval.
The badge
Every free public app shows a small "Made with Nino" badge. Each visitor sees how it was made. Buying a name removes it, which is part of what people pay for.
Measure clicks per 1,000 visits. Keep it small: the maker is the hero.
Give a year, get a year
Both sides get a year of their web address. Shown right after a purchase, when people are proudest.
In a German bank study, referred customers were worth 16–25% more, with 18% lower churn. [14] Dropbox gave storage to both sides and grew from 100,000 to 4 million users in 15 months. [15]
Gifts
Christmas, birthdays, a new business. The card explains Nino in one sentence: "Make an app by asking. Share it with one tap."
Gift vouchers are the top Christmas gift in Deloitte's Austrian survey, and 18% use Black Friday offers. [16]
Short videos
Real families: "I asked ChatGPT for a family calendar. It's now at calendar.martins.be." Made with creators in Belgium and France.
Paid per video. The story is the product working.
Our own ads
Only to remind people who already started a Nino. Never the main channel. This is Nino advertising itself; Nino never shows ads to anyone.
Meta clicks cost about $1.15–1.45 in Belgium, France and Germany [17]. That means €76–535 per buyer, against €30 of margin.

Numbers to watch every week

Conversion

Share of new Ninos that buy a name within 30 days. Target 7%.

Sharing

New Ninos that came from a badge, a referral or a gift. Target half of all new Ninos.

Sales

Web addresses sold per month. 1,000 a month covers a €30k cost base.

8Risks and first tests

What could break it, and how we'll know early.

Too few buy a name
The whole plan rests on 7%. Test with the Christmas gift pre-sale and with three prices at launch, before hiring.
ChatGPT or Claude add custom names
Then our paid core is exposed. Answer: ownership (take everything, any time), the box at home, and one Nino for apps from both AIs.
The directories say no
"Send to Nino" depends on OpenAI and Anthropic approval. Fallback: a copy-paste flow and the website, slower but ours.
Address prices rise
.com goes up 7% on 1 November 2026, and Verisign may raise it again. [1] Push cheaper local names (.be costs €5.50 [2]) and review the price each year.
Hardware costs
Memory prices have pushed small computers up sharply. The box stays pre-order only, priced when each batch is ordered. [20]
Consumer rules
Withdrawal rights, gift card validity and renewal rules differ by country. Check with a lawyer before the gift pre-sale. Germany is covered for renewals by staying opt-in. [13]
